Steps to getting a name embroidered on a shirt
This process is most easily completed by a visit to our store.

- Normal turnaround (from submission of logo for digitizing to completion) = 2 weeks

How do I know what the design will look like before it's embroidered?
- Appearance: We will create a full-sized print of your embroidery design.
- Position on garment: The print-out will then be attached to the garment for your approval.
How do I care for my embroidered garments?
- Wash and dry as normal for the garment.
- Bleaching is safe for our embroidery threads.
- Embroidery should last for years... Contact us if it doesn't.
To pre-wash or not to pre-wash?
- Pre-washing is recommended for garments that are likely to shrink.
- The embroidery thread does not shrink, so if the garment shrinks, the embroidery will become wavy.
Garment Repairs - Fixing a Rip
- Bring your torn (or otherwise damaged) favorite garment to us.
- In many cases, items you thought were ruined can be reborn.
- We'll reconnect the tear, make the area stable, then add embroidery.
- The location of the damage will determine whether matching or contrasting thread should be used.
- Tone on tone embroidery can make the repair barely visible.
Garment Repairs - Covering an old logo
- Bring your garment to us to discuss options.
- In some cases the previous embroidery must be removed - in others, it can be covered.
- The logo can be covered with embroidery or applique.
Garment Repairs - Correcting a Mis-Spelling
- Bring your garment to us to discuss options.
- In many cases we can match the font and thread color providing nearly invisible corrections.
- In other cases, the entire name will need to be removed and replaced.
How can I get my child's artwork on a tshirt?
- If you have a high-quality photo or scan of the artwork...
... you can email it to us, and we'll provide options. - If you only have the artwork in hard-copy...

How can I get a favorite photo on a tshirt?
- Hard-copy photo:
- Bring the photo to our store and we'll scan it into the computer. - Digital photo:
- Email the photo to us at customembroidery@usa.com.
- Best results are from high-resolution photos (at least 300dpi).
Can this be embroidered?
- The best way to find out is to drop by the store.
- Remember, embroidery is just one of the ways we can personalize your items.
- - If we cannot embroider the item, we can offer other suggestions. - Here are some basic guidelines:
- - items must be flexible (no cardboard fillers, plastic, or bills of baseball caps)
- - no foam (creates a mess and results are not satisfying)
- - opening of area to be embroidered must be large enough to fit and move on the machine

- Certainly! No garment decoration is ever a requirement!
Is there anything special I should know if I want to supply my own garments?
- We will embroider on customer-supplied garments.
- We are not responsible for damage done to customer-supplied garments.
- Embroidery costs are reduced when garments are purchased from Custom Embroidery Factory New York .
